WDE: Auburn Dashes cdxlii Yards Into the #1 Spot

The Plainsmen are an obvious number one this week, and they certainly control their own destiny in the national title picture.

The only change in this week's conference rankings is that the ACC has passed the Mountain West for the #5 spot; the Big East likely will pass the MWC in the coming weeks.

Seriously, don't buy into the Mountain West hype. They don't deserve an automatic BCS bid. Only twice in its history has it finished in the top six conferences: 2008 (when it finished ahead of the Pac-10) and 2009 (ahead of the ACC).
There is little argument among us math geniuses as to who number one is this week.

Not coincidentally, the top three teams this week are the teams with the three biggest quality wins so far this season (Auburn > LSU; Missouri > Oklahoma; Michigan State > Wisconsin).
